A Case of Bilateral Papilledema With Improved Clinical Symptoms by Venous Stenting for Superior Sagittal Sinus Stenosis

چکیده

Superior sagittal sinus (SSS) obstruction causes intracranial hypertension, often requiring surgical stenting. Consensus on treating brain venous stenosis, another cause, is lacking. This study reports a case of SSS stenosis and hypertension treated with stenting, improving bilateral papilledema. A 51-year-old headache visual disturbance had papilledema field loss. MR venography showed leading to neurosurgery referral. Lumbar puncture confirmed (>35 cmH2O), prompting Post-procedure, papilledema, headache, loss improved. Venous stenting could be effective for clinically proven or recurrent pressure differences. Further cases are needed standardization.

rinized during the procedure, followed by long-term therapy with clopidogrel. Clinical improvement was immediate, marked by alleviation of headaches, regression of the papillary edema, and a return to normal visual acuity (10/10 right, 9/10 left). In this case angioplastic intervention proved efficacious, and no other surgical or medical treatment was performed. Dear Sir, As the pathogenesis of...

Botulism with bilateral papiledema and venous sinus thrombosis: A case report

Background: Food-born botulism is caused by ingestion of contaminated food with clostridium botulinum neurotoxin. Case: In food-born botulism, due to acetylcholine release blockade, neuromuscular signs and symptoms are common, but in this case report we present a food-born botulism with papiledema and venous sinus thrombosis. Conclusion: Papiledema and fever could not rule out the diagnosis...

Superior Sagittal Sinus Bifurcation Variation

It is important to define the dural sinuses during assessment of the clinical presentations in neurosurgery and neurology and especially before performing surgical interventions involving the brain. Variations of dural sinuses are frequently seen in confluence of the sinuses. In our case, cranial venous MRI angiography of a 49-year-old male patient demonstrated that the superior sagittal sinus ...

Angioplasty and stenting for intractable pulsatile tinnitus caused by dural venous sinus stenosis: a case series report.

OBJECTIVE Pulsatile tinnitus caused by dural venous sinus (DVS) stenosis is a newly identified form of tinnitus. Its persistent nature can severely affect patients' sleep and quality of life, leading to depression in severe cases. The aim of this report is to investigate the efficacy and safety of angioplasty and stenting in treating this form of tinnitus. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective review. ...

Rapidly progressive dementia caused by a superior sagittal sinus dural arteriovenous fistula: a case report.

We describe the case of a 72-year-old man who presented with dementia that had progressed rapidly over a few months. Laboratory analysis of blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) showed no abnormalities, with the exception of a slightly increased CSF protein level. Results of routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA...
